The Doctrine of God and the Holy Trinity

The Doctrine of God & the Holy Trinity

Who God Is

There is only one true and living God, who is infinite in every perfection. He is a pure spirit, without a body or human-like passions, and He is unchanging, eternal, and all-powerful. He is perfectly wise, holy, and free, working all things for His own glory while also being loving, gracious, merciful, and just.

God’s Relationship to Creation

God has all life, glory, goodness, and blessedness in and of Himself and is completely self-sufficient. He doesn’t need anything from His creation but instead manifests His own glory through it. He is the source of all existence, has sovereign rule over everything, and knows all things perfectly and infallibly.

The Holy Trinity

Within the one Godhead, there are three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are of one substance, power, and eternity. The Father is unbegotten, the Son is eternally begotten of the Father, and the Holy Spirit eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son.
